Convert a text seed to a numeric one for Java Edition (same hashing algorithm as the game).
The seed decides how a world generates. Java Edition accepts both a number and arbitrary text, which the game hashes into a number internally.
Bedrock only takes numbers, so a text seed cannot be used there — you need the numeric seed to get matching worlds on both editions.
The tool shows what a text seed turns into and points out the limits of the other edition.
Type a text or numeric seed.
Get the numeric value the world generator uses.
Check that it fits in the 64-bit integer range.
Enter it in the seed field when creating a world.
A world depends on more than the seed — also on the game version and generator mode. A world created in 1.16 differs from one created in 26.3 despite an identical seed.
Yes, negative numbers are accepted within the 64-bit range. A different text still produces a different seed.
Java Edition turns text seeds into numbers via a hashing algorithm — different texts make different worlds.
This is the number the game uses to generate the world.
Bedrock Edition only accepts numeric seeds.
